Composition Time

I love going to the art gallery or seeing children's art work, or new artists and designers at markets, and what they have created. It's amazing the time and effort put into creating and making, building and designing, fine tuning and being inspired by creativity and imagination.

What do you see when you go to look at art work?

Is it creative?

Is it different?

Is it new?

Is it clever?

Do you feel inspired by the artists vision and how their work has unfolded?

I certainly do.

Imagine if you went to the gallery or market or display and saw every piece of art work was exactly the same? Would you feel inspired?

Yet when we learn the piano, we spend most of the time replicating someone else's creativity.

Wouldn't it be nice to use all those skills we have been developing to make some thing new? something creative? and inspiring from our own hearts?

I'm challenging you all to be creative this week and try to prepare something that is from your own heart and hands.

It is totally free choice but if you need something to get started then let's try making something up about Autumn.

I even have a small poem if you need words to get you going.

One idea that might help is to use the musical progression C, Am, F, G. and make a little phrase up in the right hand.

Good luck and I will look forward to seeing some beautiful little compositions over the next few weeks.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn winds begin to blow,

Coloured leaves fall fast and slow.

Whirling, twirling all around,

Till at last they touch the ground.
